How long do ankle sprains last?

I sprained my ankle last night when I ran and didn't see another such a short step off another step! so I landed hard and rolled on it. I don't think it's that bad, maybe grade 1 or 2. There isn't a visible bruise yet but it is swollen up, and definitely really hurts to walk on. I sprained it last summer too, the same way, i think it took about 2 – 3 weeks to recover, but i think this was injured more than last year. how long do ankle sprains usually take to recover?

If you keep moving your ankle without any elastic bandages on it the sprain will last for a month or even more.I suggest you apply a liniment and wrap it with a bandage. You lack more potassium in your body that's why you easily sprain yourself. Eat fruits high in potassium to strengthen those muscles and ligaments.

How can I safely give my Husky and Pit Bull scrapes off my plate while I'm eating, with out them fighting?

I've had my husky for 11 years, and my pitt for 1 month. Today I gave my husky a taste of my eaten potatoes. Then beside my husky came my pitt bull. I was going to feed them back and fourth with a spoon. They then started to fight, like they didn't want to share. How can I give them scrapes off my plate without them fighting?

Never feed your dogs while you are eating. They should not be fed until after you have completed your meal and any scrap you want to give them should be placed in their bowls.

Dogs do fine on people food. Mine gets it all the time and my vet couldn't be happier.

I know there are risk, but how many are normal? Anyone ever have a problem like this?
I know they don't punture the skin. I am talking about puctures to the colon.
My mom had one and the Dr puncturedher 6 times she had to have major surgry for repairs. She almost died. The Dr said this was normal. I don't think it should be.

Punctures in a colonoscopy aren't normal ♥ I've had a colonoscopy done and i came out of it intact ………… if they'd put a hole in me i'd surely have had a few choice words to express ………….. and a few legal appointments would be getting made too …………. man, i'm so sorry if this has happened to you………. aside from the pain that you had to endure to go through the colonoscopy you now have to deal with a punctured colon??!! I hope you speedily resolve this issue as i really don't have any first hand experience and just wanted to give you my best wishes ♥

Where can one find adequate medical care in Dipolog? Should I give up and find a doctor in Cebu?

We have had a very bad experience in a Dipolog hospital where our 18 month old baby was very ill with cold, bronchitus, flu, infections in both ears and vomitting. We believe she caught this on the flight from the US to Manila. The Doctor at the Dipolog hospital believed she only had a cold. She is now back in the US for 5 days, still pretty sick but is getting better thanks to competent medical care in the US. Had she stayed in Dipolog much longer without adequate and competent medical care the result would have been life threatening for our baby!
We plan to retire to Dipolog only IF WE CAN FIND ADEQUATE MEDICAL CARE! We are willing to travel to Cebu or elswhere. Please help!

You should consider Cebu as there is going to be a hospital built here that will be accepting US Bluecross and Medicare.

NOTE: I have received emails from yappers that don't believe my above answer, so here is the link where I received my info http://business.inquirer.net/money/topstories/view_article.php?article_id=6556
"The proposed hospital will also honor US-based medical insurance such as Blue Cross, Blue Shield and Medicare Healthcare Insurance, according to Chua, a cardiac surgeon emeritus of Northwest Indiana."

Possible bug (bacterial infection), cellulitis, or a fungal infection. Pay attention to other symptoms, and have a gyn exam to determine. Please don't guess your diagnosis and try to treat it on your own.

What is an illness/disease that could keep someone from physical activity for 3 years?

I need to know for a short story I’m writing for school…the character wants to be a dancer but has not been able to dance for 3 years because of some illness, but I want it to be realistic. Not a deadly illness just one that you wouldn’t be able to dance, and an internal illness not an injury.
THANKS!

This may change your story line too much, but if the dancer is depressed over something in her life, that could have kept her from being a dancer. Often times those suffering from depression are practically incapable of physical activity and lose their ambition. It’s a constant cycle – she is unable to dance because of her depression and her inability to dance is pushing her further into depression.

What should I keep in a first-aid kit for my car?

I am going away and I was wondering if anyone new what I should keep in a first-aid kit.

I am going camping.

Make sure you have one or two of those emergency rescue blankets that look like tinfoil, they keep your body heat in and are packaged into little compact squares… Keep one in the glove box and one in the trunk – keep one INSIDE the car in case you ever get trapped inside you car after an accident in a ditch or ravine or something. You should also keep a flashlight, extra batteries, an emergency auto glass window breaking tool with seat-belt cutter if you ever end up in the water in your car ( flash flood – or drive into a lake or river ) you will not be able to open your car door until the car is completely submerged and the pressure equals out and electric roll down windows won't work and it is hard as hell to break window glass without one of these tools. Also pack a few protein bars and a jug of distilled water. Flares, a whistle, be sure and bring along extra meds if you are on any… and like the woman above me posted just a regular first aid kit… Be sure it has some Neosporin in it and rubbing alcohol, and be sure and bring some benadryl pills in case you have an unexpected allergic reaction. Cell phone and charger and/or spare batteries and waterproof matches and a lighter. It's also a good idea to keep a simple cheap wool skull cap or ski mask and extra wool socks and gloves in the car ( you lose most of your body heat from the top of your head ) And Nose Toes and Fingers are the first things to go with frostbite Best of luck

Do I have to give medications to the children? I live in Ct. If the children are on some kind of medication, do I have to be licensed for that or is that part of my FirstAid license? Sorry, but I did the First Aid class like a year and a half ago and forgotten whether my license makes it so I could give out meds. Also, what is the pay rate per child? I tried calling local family daycares to find out, but no luck. Thanks so much.
