Ankle sprain

I was exercising and turned my ankle. It didn’t bother me right away. It started hurting me 2 days later while walking my dog. It hurt so badly i could barely get home. It was swollen and i could barely do anything. IT’s been bothering me all week, is still swollen, and hasn’t gotten any better. I have sharp sudden pains, then it throbs, especially when i move it a certain way. Ive been wrapping it and icing it all week, and trying to stay off it. it’s been bad though, and not getting better. I also have to carry 30 lbs of books every day during school, so that makes it worse. What more should i do? How long should a sprain take to heal?? Any other advice on what i should do?

Where can I get Turmeric for my dogs sprained or broken leg?

Dogs sprained /  broken leg

Where can I get Turmeric for my dogs sprained/broken leg and how much does it usually cost? Are there any other things I can do to help my dog with her pain and help her heal (besides going to the vet, because I’m a college student and therefore broke)? I’m pretty sure it’s only sprained because she limps on it and can bend it, but then again I’m not a vet so I don’t know.
I’m sorry, I didn’t realize I was putting this in general health. I meant for it to go in the Pets section. I haven’t been on yahoo!answers in a long time.
To *Muse*: I don’t think you have any right to criticize my ability to take care of an animal. I’m not going to give up the pet I’ve had for 6 years because I can’t afford a 500 dollar vet bill for a cast. Besides, in this economy, who can afford a vet bill? Also, I’m not trying to cure my dog on my own. I’m trying to take away some of the pain while she is healing. It is a sprain after all, it happens to dogs all the time, especially if they live out in the country. I think that, maybe, you should be looking at your own character and seeing how much you could really love a pet if you’re willing to just give it up when it gets too expensive. I gaurantee you I will find a way to help my dog, no matter how much it costs me, because I love her like a child. And on normal circumstances, she is a very healthy dog. So, what I came here for was advice, not criticism. If you don’t have any GOOD advice for me, then don’t say anything at all.
Again, to Muse: What I took offense to was the part where you said “If you can’t afford a pet, you shouldn’t have one”. I have plenty of money to take my pets to the vet for a check up and medication (my other dog is epileptic and takes seizure medication twice a day), I just don’t have 500 dollars for a cast (which I didn’t need because it was just a sprain). My mother is the one who usually helps me with my vet bills (because she is the one who GAVE me these pets), but she just got laid off last year and is now a full time student just like me. It’s not fair of you to suggest that I can’t afford to “take care” of my pets, I can perfectly well afford most of the amenities required of me as a pet owner (after all, all of my pets are fixed and up to date on their shots), I’m just in a tight spot for cash right now. By the way, my dog is perfectly fine, she has already healed. In fact, I called the vet before I even wrote this and he said it was more than likely a sprain.

The only reason I came on here, was because I needed advice to help her while she was healing. Turmeric is a natural healing plant that Indians (Natives of India) have given their dogs for centuries to help their bones heal and to take away the pain. So, next time you decide to be so judgemental, you should probably check the facts (or at least ask for them). You don’t know the situations of others, so you shouldn’t assume. I used to work for an agency that made calls to raise money for a prominent political party (I won’t say which) and when we called people in Michigan (a state with one of the highest rates of unemployment as of 2005) they couldn’t even give us a nickel. One lady told me she had just lost her job and her dog needed medication, but she couldn’t afford it and she didn’t have anyone in her life that was willing to help her out because they knew she couldn’t pay them back. Do you think I judged her? No.
The advice you gave wasn’t advice at all. It was just rude and you know it. That’s why I got upset; because you judged me before you even knew my situation.

My dog’s leg seems sprained or broke. Help?

Dog’s sprained leg

So earlier, I went outside and came back in only to see my dog just sitting there in the corner. When he finally got up to walk his front paw was raised in the air and seemed hurt.. He wouldn’t walk on it at first, but now he’s running, jumping on the couch and going up and down the stairs, but there still seems to be pain there, and he still raises it in the air.. I made an appointment with the vet for the next available appt, but do you think I should wait, because it seems to get better as time goes by.. What’s your opinion?

He’s a 1yr old Bichon Frise.

My dog has a sprained ankle

Neenee asked:

I’m pretty sure I know what caused it too. Italian Greyhounds are fragile, but Pip has always been really good and hopping on and off the bed. But today I came home from errands and he came down the hall with a limp like he injured his front left paw. The vet’s not in right now so I splinted it and now he’s curled comfortably in his bed with a treat and a blanket. How long do I wait before I take him to the vet? I don’t want to have to pay a ton of money for my vet to tell me “Just let him rest”.

He doesn’t seem to be wincing or whining at all, and he’s not exactly a tough dog normally.

Also, signed the cast with the names of my other dogs. Too cute.

Did my puppy sprain her leg?

Puppy sprained leg.

Goldengirl asked:

Gahhh dogs, why do we have them ):

Some time ago my puppy was playing and hopping on her back legs and started yelping. Her right leg was stiff but she kept running. I figured it was just a sprain or something and felt both of her legs and the bones were the same so I hope they aren’t dislocated or anything. Then I sort of lifted her right leg up so it bent and it ‘clicked’ and she was fine, but then she went under my bed and the same thing happened. It’s 00:27 so I can’t rush her to the vet or anything. I put her in her old play pen so she can’t run around and hurt herself more. She’s sleeping. Should I be worried? She’s going to the vets on Friday to be spayed, if she’s fine by then should I still ask them to check her over? Has it ever happened to you?

Dogs hip dysplacia

Is it dogs hip dysplacia?

I tole my parents about this and my father told me she could have hip dysplacia.

Hip dysplatia is supposedly hereditary, which causes a problem. We have no clue who her parents are (she’s a pet shop dog. shame on me, I know, I know.) She’s a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, 4 years old. The leg she has been trying to comfort is her back right leg. When she walks, she puts her leg up. We have many flights of stairs, (condominium living. =/ ) so at first I though she may have a sprain. Later I realized that there was no swelling.

I have another corgi and I took into consideration that maybe he was playing with her and went a bit too far. No blood was drawn, no skin was ripped. (He is a very calm dog, loves her, and would NEVER hurt her.)

If any of you have/had or know something that might be the reason for my baby’s pain.. Tell, tell!
(Going to the vet in a few days, but I would like to know just in case so I’m not spending $400 for nothing, thanks.)

Dog limping

She randomly jus started limping favoring her front right leg. when i squeeze her paw she doesnt mind it or when i press around her joints, but when i try to straighten it out she barks. I am hoping this is just a sprain, shes still happy wagging her tail being herself, jus on three legs.
