What does it mean when a person bruises easy?

I have a lot of bruises on my legs and thighs and I have a few on my arms. I don't even recall how I got them. Is there something wrong with me that I get so many?

Possibly anemic. If you bruise easily, you may not even remember what caused a bruise. Bruising easily does not mean you have a serious health problem, especially if bruising is minimal or only shows up once in a while.

Older adults often bruise easily from minor injuries, especially injuries to the forearms, hands, legs, and feet. As a person ages, the skin becomes less flexible and thinner because there is less fat under the skin. The cushioning effect of the skin decreases as the fat under the skin decreases. These changes, along with skin damage from exposure to the sun, cause blood vessels to break easily. When blood vessels break, bruising occurs.
Women bruise more easily than men, especially from minor injuries on the thighs, buttocks, and upper arms.
A tendency to bruise easily sometimes runs in families.

  4. It could mean a lot of things. I am sure you are alright but if you have felt sick or not 100% call your MD.
Otherwise bring it up at your next appointment –

The presence of bruises may be seen in patients with platelet or coagulation disorders. Unexplained bruising may be a warning sign of child abuse or serious medical problems, such as leukemia and meningoccocal infection. Unexplained bruising could indicate internal bleeding or certain types of cancer. A deficiency in Vitamin C can also make a person more susceptible to bruises from impacts. Also long term glucocorticoid therapy can cause easy bruising.

  6. This can mean you are low on iron. If you are low on iron this could lead to being anemic. Drinking water wont help this. Eating foods thatcontain iron will help for example, greenbeans. Go to the doctor and get a blood test and have them check your iron levels.

  8. No, you're probably just clumsy and don't recall bumping into things. There are a lot of people like that. Usually that afflicts older people (60 plus) but some younger people seem to not pay attention to such bumping.

Go see a medical doctor to make sure you don't suffer from some rare ailment. Otherwise, you could BLEED to death and won't realize it until you're DEAD.

  10. You were probably so busy cleaning your & then finding out that your monkey ruined it that you just didn't realize when they happened. In seriousness, tell your Dr.
