I have been in Japan for almost 2 years now and it seems that First Aid Kit is not immediately available anywhere within one's house/apartment. I wonder if YOUR house has one, and isn't it important for a household?

Yes, and I check it regulary to make sure everything is stocked and the antibiotic creams and stuff aren't too old.

Does the white medical tape from a first-aid kit help get rid of a plantars wart like duct tape?

I have a medium sized plantars wart RIGHT on my heel. It hurts SOOO bad when I walk. I have my birthday party tommorow, which is a "dressed-up" party and I can't walk in high heels with this! I have white medical tape from a first-aid kit over it, just like duct tape. Would this still work? It sure sticks on better. I really don't know what to do before tommorow! Please help! Any solutions?

Freezing it with a dermatologist is best, duct tape works for some on common warts not plantar warts. Go and buy a foam heel insert from the drugstore and cut out an area where the wart is so when you wear shoes there is no pressure on the wart itself. sometimes they sell the inserts with the heel cut out for heel spurs. Then make an appt for a dermatologist. Cuting them out causes more.

What type of first aid kit would you recommend for a college student?

I'm going to be heading off to college in the fall and I want to buy a first-aid kit. Where would be the best place to buy one, and what should it have in it? Thanks guys! : )

Really all that you need are band-aids, aspirin, some gauze and something to clean cuts. An ice pack might not hurt either. Unless you are going to nursing school, you will hardly ever need anything more extensive.

You can pick up one at walgreens or any similar drug store.

what kind of a first aid kit can i make?

I want to put together a real good first aid kit. i want it to include stuff for bug bites a first degree burns and such like that what do i need to gather for a kit.

The typical first aid kit you would purchase from a store would include:

Band aids (all sizes)
Gauze (rolls as well as different sized squares)
Medical tape
Scissors (in case clothing needs to be cut away from a wound)
A bottle of eye wash
Tweezers
Alcohol pads
Popsicle sticks/tongue depressors (Can be used for finger splints)
A few Q-Tips
Gloves (if worried about latex allergies, you can get the non-latex variety)
Antiseptic hand wipes
Instant Hot and Cold Pack (more than one if you want to be prepared to treat heat stroke)
Antacid tablets
Allergy tablets
Triple Antibiotic Ointment
Insect sting relief
Tylenol/Aspirin/Ibuprofen (keep in mind that some people may have sensitivity to aspirin, and it may be a good idea to have more than one option for them – at the same time, apsirin can come in handy if someone thinks they're having a heart attack)
Burn cream or spray
A couple of triangular bandages/cloths (to make a temporary sling)

You may also want to consider:
A CPR face shield
Blood pressure kit (if you really wanna be prepared)
Glucose tablets or gel (for a diabetic emergency)

Depending on how much you want to be prepared for, you may not find all of these things useful. But if you want to be prepared for most injuries and illnesses, then the above list will certainly help you in that.

What are the problems you face when using First-aid Kit?

Example: The First-aid Kit is not lock properly.
It is too small to contain more medication when needed.

Other users do not restock it!!!!!!

It is horrible to go out on a medical call and not find the supplies you need. Embarrassing too.

Why does my first aid kit include chalk?

I bought a ready-made first aid kit. The kit includes lots of sensible medical supplies such as bandages, iodine, antibiotics etc. But what’s with the sticks of chalk, why is chalk in a first aid kit?

Well the chalk is in there for if you get lost in the woods, jungle, ect. and you have it with you, you can mark the trees or anything else solid to help you keep your path so you dont get anymore lost…or in a survival situation, if you have a stomach ache, you can eat it believe it or not…and it helps absord acid……it is made from an ingredient that is in pepto bismol.lol.
