What would cause random lacerations on female genitalia to appear?
on the inside of the outer labia/ the outside of the inner labia,
Just randomly, with no apparant reason?
no scratching, stds, or abrasion
just randomly
could fungemia do it?
Possible bug (bacterial infection), cellulitis, or a fungal infection. Pay attention to other symptoms, and have a gyn exam to determine. Please don't guess your diagnosis and try to treat it on your own.
Good luck!
How do I cure lacerations?
I'm not even sure that's the right term, but they're inside my mouth, if that's it, well I've had it for about 2 days and it gets worse by the minute, any help would be great.
Thanks.
rinse with warm salt water, it helps with the healing and pain, if it persists, you should see the doctor.
Docs, nurses: question about suturing small lacerations in children?
I’m an MA at an Urgent care center and we have small children come in with 2 inch lacerations that aren’t bleeding and are not deep. The doctors always suture them. I can’t see putting a child through that if you can just steri strip or glue the incision? I don’t want to question the doctors I work with. Thanks.
Quite often the decision can be based on where the cut is. Will the child/person bend/use the injured area and cause the cut to spread open and therefore potentially leave a bigger scar.
Sometimes docs do unnecessary things just to please the patients. Look how often they write Rx’s for antibiotics for viral infections because the patient “wants” some pills. What we perceive as a shallow and small cut they perceive as “to the bone.”
You should talk to your docs, it’s not questioning their authority… it’s trying to learn what, why, when.
Why does a blunt trauma injury cause lacerations?
My daughter banged her upper cheek/temple onto the top of a table (sigh). There was no swelling, and there was no sharp edges that she hit, so what caused the laceration that took four stitches to close it?
Good question, and intersting. I think you're looking for the evidence behind the question.
Crime scene analysis:
Bang
Hit
Table
No Swelling
No Sharp edge
Cheek
Skin
You mentioned 2x's hit and bang, then hard surface. Here is what happens in blunt trauma. A blunt, hard, non-pliable object (table) collides with the pliable, soft tissue of a young girl. Even with no sharp edges she is going to get damage. Could have been the height of the fall (fall from a long distance?), weight of the fall (did she catch herself on the way down?) the condition of the skin (is she very thin, if so she would have less padding). All of this comes into play, you are right most kids don't actually break their skin and require stitches, very often they don't even have ecchymosis.
In summary when soft tissue comes rec. trauma from a blunt object something's got to give.
Which one is best to use for cleaning minor lacerations and abrasions?
Hydrogen peroxide, isopropyl alcohol, witch hazel, or something else? I have an active two-year-old who seems to continually get scraped up, not to mention she scratches her mosquito bites until they're bloody. Any recommendations?
Plain old soap and water. Then cover with an antibiotic ointment like neosporin and a bandaide and a kiss. All those things like you mentioned are not recommended anymore.
I'm a RN in a place where we get lots of bumps, brises, and cuts. This is our standing order from the physician. Of course if it is more serious than a simble cut, it may require Dr's care like stitches.
Can anyone tell me or give me a website about Halloween makeup, especially in make fake lacerations?
I have been looking and looking and I can not find any good info about making cuts and lacerations. Please help!
The link below lists a bunch of products to use. Check out the Special Effects section.
To blend it into your skin, you can use special halloween makeup, make your own halloween makeup, or use some of your own liquid foundation (or buy some).
The second link gives step by step picture instructions.
