What are my options for medical care with no money in Georgia?

I have been under tremendous stress for an extended period. I survived a bout of homelessness & malnourishment. I had to file bankruptcy, I got a job but was underemployed. I was not making enough to pay my bills, just fuel and a weekly lodge.

After the homelessness, I stayed with a friend who lived so far from my daily routine that I had to literally spend hours traveling daily to continue to survive. I somehow contracted a viral infection amd had to make an emergency room visit. This infection hit me pretty hard affecting lungs and bronchial passages. My immune system is so weak that I had to stop working my low paying job just to recupperate. I need to work. I have worked my entire life, still but my head spins constantly, I have a bad headache, & my chest and heart literally ache. I just don't feel quite well yet.

1.Given my conditions & needs what are my options for medical care with no money?
2.Do doctors do pro bono work?
3.Are there free clinics, I can visit?

Grady Hospital in Atlanta accepts indigent patients. You need to go to the emergency room for a chest x-ray. Also, call DFACS in your county to ask for help. Even though you might not be elderly, you are sick and in need of medical attention. If it were me, I'd head to Grady right now, as you probably have a case of pneumonia or some other major ailment that could get worse. They can also advise you as to where to go for follow-up.

What is our crisis in medical care today?

For example, some people are too poor to go to doctors or they can't get health insurance to cover their medical bill. What are some things that we or the governmant can do to give everyone adequate health care? The more relevant information, the better. If you can please also provide any articles that regards about any medical crisis we are facing today or what the government has done to give all americans equal health care will be great! I've search everywhere and it's hard to find them, especially when you're not clear about the topic. Thanks in advance =)

Ill just give 1 idea. Currently, pharmaceutical companies are charging huge amounts of money for their products. Almost every other country regulates what they could charge, and we do not. For example, (all hypothetical) Drug Company wants to charge $1 a pill for nexium. Italy may only allow them to charge $.80, Canada may only allow $.25 and Japan may only allow $.65. Here in America, they can charge whatever they want, so they will charge over the $1 to recoup losses in other countries. We need to place limits on what drug companies can charge, this will lead to cheaper drugs and on to cheaper insurance premiums.

Is there any way to balance compassion and profit in medical care?

I know the most important thing in America is making a profit, but it's not right that everyone can't afford insurance for medical care. Things that are insured are usually material things that are valuable and expensive. It doesn't seem right that health care is on that list. Couldn't "they" have made it affordable? I mean we all work and are contributing. It just seems like "they" are picking and choosing who they want to live. You know, to keep undesireables out of an area, you just jack up the prices? Am I the only uninsured person out there that prays my health will keep up on its own?

Yes, it's called socialised medicine and it's not really a profitable venture, but it's certainly compassionate and IMHO it's the responsibility of government to look after it's citizens and proper health care tops the list. I don't think health care should be done for profit.

What kind of doctor should I see for all-around medical care?

I need to select a primary physician, one for all-around medical care. I have a very large selection to choose from as most doctors in my area accept my insurance. My main issues are: *Type 2 Diabetes, *Restless Leg Syndrome, *Depression / Bi-Polar. I see an Endocrinologist for my Diabetes and a Psychiatrist for depression / bi-polar, but neither of them will treat / address other medical issues. I would like to find a physician for general medical treatment for *sick / *cold / *flu / *injury / *x-rays / *lab work, etc. BUT someone also well-versed in Diabetes, Restless Leg Sybdrome and Depression / bi-polar just so they may better understand my background and be familiar with and able to understand my treatment of those conditions. SOOOOOOO…….. General Practice, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, M.D., D.O., which area should I look into to select a physician?

I would look into a general practitioner. I know what you mean though. I see my general practitioner for my anxiety/depression, sacrociliitis(arthritis of the sacrum), allergies, and any other medical concern I have. Good luck. P.S. Usually, a family practice doctor is a general practice doctor that will treat children as well as adults. The general practitioner is usually for 18+.

Why do those who believe in God’s will denounce passive euthanasia yet find medical care acceptable?

My contention is that if we (humans) are not to interfere with God’s plan then we shouldn’t interfere with any natural process such as disease. Based on my understanding of God’s will, I am finding it difficult to understand why the Religious right is against the removal of life support, yet for receiving medical care in the first place since both actions interfere with the plan.

2 Kings 20:7 “And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.” Here God commanded through His prophet that King Hezekiah use medicine to heal himself from a disease. God ordained medicine to be the way that the king of Israel would be healed, and don’t worry, there is nothing that we can do that will interfere with God’s plan. God will have His will done one way or another.

What happens when a foreign person comes to the UK and needs medical care?

If a foreign person is over on holiday I know they would normally have insurance to cover any treatment they need, but how does it work here in the UK? Firstly, do NHS hospitals charge foreign people whilst on holiday like they do in the US, and secondly if an illegal immigrant came here, and needed medical care for, let's say a heart condition, would they be able to get it for free in our UK hospitals? My husband and I are disagreeing over this and I'd like someone to put the record straight!!

EU nationals take out a European health insurance card, which entitles them to the same standard of health care as local people would receive. http://ec.europa.eu/employment_social/healthcard/citoyens_en.htm
As it is free for UK nationals who spend two thirds of their time in the UK, so it is free for them.

Foreigners from non EU States are supposed to take out private insurance cover and pay privately. However, many people abuse the system, including people who could well afford to pay, and at the end of their treatment simply leave without paying.

As far as asylum seekers are concerned, the need for medical treatment of any kind is not a valid ground for being admitted to the UK and if this were the primary purpose of coming, then it would be a ground for turning down their application for asylum and sending them home. Again, this doesn't seem to happen much in practice.

The whole system is in a mess. I know people who are domiciled in the UK and paying into the system there, but working away from the UK on a temporary basis who fall foul of the two thirds rule (not away for more than four months a year) and are refused treatment when home. I also know people who are domiciled in countries other than the UK who for some reason are able to go to the UK to receive treatment on a regular basis.

When and in what Third World area should I provide free medical care?

I am currently 17, and after college I want to attend medical school. At some point after getting my degree I would like to spend a year providing free medical care in impoverished areas like rural India or Senegal.

At what point in my career could this be done (right out of medical school, after internships, etc.) and what impoverished area do you think could most use the help?

study abroad during your undergrad to get a feel where you would like to contribute. that’s what i did and continue to go back to that area and many others post-medical school.

many other places in the world are hurting for medical care. you may want to consider areas in sub-saharan africa, and in the USA.

What is Medical care?
What is Health care?
Both of this is different or it is same thing?

In health care we take a fit body which is healthy. We choose the different way of livelihood which is helpful to happy and healthy life.
In Medical care we give the treatment to the ill people. But in health treatment it is not necessary that the person is ill than we give the treatment.
The best example of health treatment is Polio Vaccine. It give to the children the children are not disable only to save them they give them vaccine.
