Where can one find adequate medical care in Dipolog? Should I give up and find a doctor in Cebu?

We have had a very bad experience in a Dipolog hospital where our 18 month old baby was very ill with cold, bronchitus, flu, infections in both ears and vomitting. We believe she caught this on the flight from the US to Manila. The Doctor at the Dipolog hospital believed she only had a cold. She is now back in the US for 5 days, still pretty sick but is getting better thanks to competent medical care in the US. Had she stayed in Dipolog much longer without adequate and competent medical care the result would have been life threatening for our baby!
We plan to retire to Dipolog only IF WE CAN FIND ADEQUATE MEDICAL CARE! We are willing to travel to Cebu or elswhere. Please help!

You should consider Cebu as there is going to be a hospital built here that will be accepting US Bluecross and Medicare.

NOTE: I have received emails from yappers that don't believe my above answer, so here is the link where I received my info http://business.inquirer.net/money/topstories/view_article.php?article_id=6556
"The proposed hospital will also honor US-based medical insurance such as Blue Cross, Blue Shield and Medicare Healthcare Insurance, according to Chua, a cardiac surgeon emeritus of Northwest Indiana."

How does anyone in this country get free medical care?

I'm a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom and I dont get medical care. Someone please tell me how illegals get medical care because I want in on this program. The only health care I get is through Planned Parenthood, and you better believe I pay for it.
I am not joking. I am sitting here in my BDUs right now, and I have no health insurance. Tricare does not provide for the Guard.
Well you see, I have this job in which I put on a military uniform every day and I have to take physical training tests and qualify with an M16 so I can shoot back at whoever shoots at me, and there is no health insurance in my benefits package. So where do I get free medical care?

The only two defining forces that have ever offered to die for you was Jesus Christ and the American soldier.
One died for you soul and the other for your freedom.

Urgent Medical Care

Urgent Medical Care

Urgent medical care is  becoming very important in the United States and is especially it is crucial for busy  people and those that do not have enough  time to get to their regular doctor during busy office hours. Urgent  medical care facilities work similar to both emergency rooms and general doctors offices, although they are really a combination of both.

Normal urgent medical care facilities will take walk in patients without an appointment provided they are not experiencing a life threatening injury or condition. In other words the service is not an emergency or trauma room for  serious accident victims or those people that will need full hospitalization. Instead the urgent medical care facility typically takes patients that have minor physical injuries such as broken bones, non-life threatening accident type  injuries, cold and flu treatment, workers compensation claims, minor health concerns or almost any other minor health condition. Many patients prefer to use an medical care facility to an emergency room as there are fewer costs  typically associated with the service compared to a full hospital visit.

A lot of urgent medical care facilities also offer drug and alcohol testing and screening, basic lab work, support for patients with chronic health conditions such as diabetes or digestive disorders, or may also offer flu shots or  vaccinations for children. School physicals or work related physical examinations may also be completed at most urgent medical care businesses. Typically appointments are optional with some more detailed types of exams or test  needing an appointment while other health issues are treated on a walk in basis.

As with other types of medical services urgent medical care offices accept most types of insurance or may also bill directly for service. In the case of drug screening or other non-insurance tests and services payment may be  required in advance, so it is always important to phone and find out if payment will be required. In most cases the urgent medical care service will have extended office hours over a traditional doctor’s office or clinic but they are not  generally open 24 hours like an emergency room is.

The urgent medical care office staff consists of  professionals that will have the same education and licensing as staff at any other hospital or medical treatment facility in the area. So often the physicians and nurses are more geared  towards preventative type treatments and a lot of attention is concentrated on training and working with patients, particularly those that have chronic types of health conditions.

What is the best way to advertise a new non-medical care-giving business?

We do elder-care, nanny-care, respite care. We are non-medical.
We have a phone book add in several cities, we advertise on Craigs list, we have broshures and postcard mailings.

I work in a CCRC, continuing care retirement community, and lots of people get their business by asking to make a posting on a community bulletin board or by asking to put out brochures. This type of community will give you lots of access to the people who are not yet ready for help but more than likely will be in a few years. Another idea is for you to go to health screenings and health fairs – many elderly go to these for new information and inexpensive testings. Good luck to you.

What are the ethical considerations for a spouse whose significant other refuses medical care?

As more and more people in the baby boom generation are aging, and the cost of medical care rises, they are faced with hard choices about when to seek medical care. Can we trust our gut instincts on this one?
Or are there instances where intervention is warranted?

This is a difficult question. Seeking medical care for someone who does not want it is illegal unless you are their guardian. Which means they are either underage and you have guardianship or they are mentally incompetent.

First step is to find out exactly why they are refusing. And understand their reasons. Yours make no difference legally.

As someone who is older my main concern has always been becoming a person like the boxer in Million Dollar Baby. Since I do not want to live on under those circumstances, it seemed a good idea to sign no heroic intervention releases and make a Physician friend rather than my own husband or children responsible for making a decision to allow me to die peacefully.

For someone else it may be fear of pain or expense or numerous other issues. So ask questions and listen to the answers, hard as that can be when you are concerned. And then try to persuade your partner to at least see someone to identify causes and options. This does save money should the problem be easy to remedy and get worse if not treated.

Good luck and may this turn out okay.

From unprofessional viewpoints (most of us here are not doctors) or professional views, the efficiency of medical care, the knowledge of skilled doctors, their skills, the procedure of diagnosis and treatment, the availabilty, even the expense of medical services in China, is better than those in America/Canada/Europe or not? Have you ever had experience on it? What do you think of it? Thanks.

i donot think it is better but safer
