What is our crisis in medical care today?

For example, some people are too poor to go to doctors or they can't get health insurance to cover their medical bill. What are some things that we or the governmant can do to give everyone adequate health care? The more relevant information, the better. If you can please also provide any articles that regards about any medical crisis we are facing today or what the government has done to give all americans equal health care will be great! I've search everywhere and it's hard to find them, especially when you're not clear about the topic. Thanks in advance =)

Ill just give 1 idea. Currently, pharmaceutical companies are charging huge amounts of money for their products. Almost every other country regulates what they could charge, and we do not. For example, (all hypothetical) Drug Company wants to charge $1 a pill for nexium. Italy may only allow them to charge $.80, Canada may only allow $.25 and Japan may only allow $.65. Here in America, they can charge whatever they want, so they will charge over the $1 to recoup losses in other countries. We need to place limits on what drug companies can charge, this will lead to cheaper drugs and on to cheaper insurance premiums.

  2. Go to Michael Moore's website. He'll give you facts you can verify yourself. See "Sicko". Even Fox gave it high praise. It's an issue that affects all americans.

  6. I wish I could give you a cookie cutter response but I can't. US healthcare problems are extermely complicated issues. Sicko is a good start but doesn't delve into the real healthcare problems facing us. Thankfully I'm a Veteran and get "socialized" VA healthcare. I hope someday the rest of Americans can get the great healthcare I'm receiving.

  8. Corruption.

We pay more than any people on earth.

We have a rated 13th system, below some third world nations.

  10. Sure it has some people falling through the cracks but the US health care system, dollar for dollar, is the best bargain in the world today. Especially when Social Security disability, medicare and medicaid benefits are considered.
