What is the best way to advertise a new non-medical care-giving business?
We do elder-care, nanny-care, respite care. We are non-medical.
We have a phone book add in several cities, we advertise on Craigs list, we have broshures and postcard mailings.
I work in a CCRC, continuing care retirement community, and lots of people get their business by asking to make a posting on a community bulletin board or by asking to put out brochures. This type of community will give you lots of access to the people who are not yet ready for help but more than likely will be in a few years. Another idea is for you to go to health screenings and health fairs – many elderly go to these for new information and inexpensive testings. Good luck to you.

Advertise in your local Sunday newspaper or through your local church.

Ads in small town newspapers are inexpensive and cover a lot of the target market you are hoping to find.

I've seen this work successfully for many people
This is going to sound morbid…
But a lot of your clientele are reading the obituaries on a regular basis (looking for the people they know.) It couldn't hurt to run ads in small local newspapers, most particularly in that section.
Also, it would be good to visit some local doctors' offices and let them know what you do. A lot of people who need non-medical assistance are still going to see doctors for various things (they just don't need an advanced level of hands-on medicare care.)
Also, you might want to post to bulletin boards at local churches, grocery stores, community centers, community service organizations, and/or senior citizen centers.
